An approach to reliability-adaptive module reconfiguration
Rakowsky U.K.
Abstract:
The system considered here reconfigures its components dependent on the requirements of each operating phase and the reliability properties of the modules and components, respectively, in operation. An approach is discussed in which a serial-parallel redundant system can change the number of redundant components (reconfiguration) of its modules dynamically. Deterministic diagnosis, probabilistic online estimation, and probabilistic prognosis are combined to an online estimation of component reliability properties and integrated into a reconfiguration concept. Dynamically changing phases depending on estimated reliability properties are introduced. Typical applications are systems that perform high reliability or availability-relevant tasks.
